Old Bawn was established in 1985 by Mr Michael Nevin 4th Degree. It has produced many National Champions and students have won medals representing Ireland both home and abroad. Mr Dermot Gavigon was a member of the 1990 World Championship Gold Medal Team, Mr Stephen Doyle won Gold in 1994 in the Four Nations and again in 1998 under then National Coach Mr Michael Nevin against the USA. Junior Black Belts Ross Byrne, Mr Chris Downes and Mr Mark Pollock won Bronze Medals at the 2005 ITF European Championships in Dublin.
Mr. Stephen Doyle 6th Degree began his training in 1987 under Mr Michael Nevin. After Mr Nevin moved from Old Bawn in 2000 Mr Doyle became the Senior Instructor. He has represented Ireland on numerous occasions including the 1993 European Championships in Holland. Mr Doyle has attended many International Seminars under Grand Master Rhee, Grand Master Park and Grand Master Weng traveling as far as Hungary and England to participate. While attending a seminar in Hungary he was the first person to be graded to International Umpire "A" by Grand Master Park Jong Soo. One of Mr Doyle's most memorable moments came in 1992 when he got to train under the Founder Gen. Choi at a 5 day seminar in Dublin.
Mr Doyle was appointed the RITA National Coach in September 2005.
