Old Bawn was established in 1985 by Mr Michael Nevin 4th Degree. It has produced many National Champions and students have won medals representing Ireland both home and abroad. Mr Dermot Gavigon was a member of the 1990 World Championship Gold Medal Team, Mr Stephen Doyle won Gold in 1994 in the Four Nations and again in 1998 under then National Coach Mr Michael Nevin against the USA. Junior Black Belts Ross Byrne, Mr Chris Downes and Mr Mark Pollock won Bronze Medals at the 2005 ITF European Championships in Dublin. Mr Gerard Byrne won Bronze and Mr Doyle won Gold at the 2010 European Championships. Mr Doyle won Gold and Bronze at the 2011 European Championships.
Master. Stephen Doyle 7th Degree began his training in 1987 under Mr Michael Nevin in Old Bawn. After Mr Nevin moved from Old Bawn in 2000 Master Doyle became the Senior Instructor. His training continued under Grandmaster Robert Howard. He has represented Ireland on numerous occasions including the 1993 European Championships in Holland, the first Irish Team to win the 4 Nations in 1994 and Ireland v USA 1998. Master Doyle has attended many International Seminars under Grandmaster Rhee, Grandmaster Park, Grandmaster Leong Wai Meng, Senior Grandmaster Hwang and Senior Grandmaster Kim traveling throughtout Europe to participate. While attending a seminar in Hungary he was the first person to be graded to International Umpire "A" by Grandmaster Park Jong Soo. One of Master Doyle's most memorable moments came in 1992 when he got to train under the Founder Gen. Choi at a 5 day seminar in Dublin. Master Doyle won Gold in the 2010 & 2011 European Championships for 6th Dan Patterns.
Master Doyle was appointed the RITA National Coach in September 2005 and has helped train many World and European winners. He became the first Irish person to win the 4 Nations Trophy as both a competitor in 1994 and coach in 2013. Master Doyle also organised the first ever RITA Female International friendly in Ireland when the Irish Females beat a UKTA Female team in 2012. He has travelled all over Europe and as far as DPR Korea with the Irish Team.
In 2013 Master Doyle was promoted to 7th Dan Master by Grandmaster Robert Howard and received his certificate from the ITF President at the World Championships.
