RITA to Host 2005 AETF European Championships

The RITA is delighted to announce that it has been selected to host the AETF European Championships in 2005. This is the first time such a major event will be hosted in Ireland and it is a great honour for the RITA to have been chosen. It will be doubly special occasion as it will be 50 years since General Choi gave the world the name Taekwon-Do (11th of April 1955).

AETF Flag handed over to RITA

As hosts of the 2005 European Championships the RITA was presented with the AETF flag at the end of the 2004 Championship ceremonies in Bulgaria.

Play Your Part in Euro 2005

In order to make Euro 2005 a great success and to show the rest of Europe what Ireland can Achieve, we are asking all member and their families to play their part. As well as volunteers who are willing to do everything and anything, we are looking for people with skills in specific areas.

If you think you can help or know of someone who is willing to help in the areas listed below, please talk to your Instructor or contact the National Secretary Ms Valerie Keane directly at 01-4510462. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

We need Doctors, photographers, PR marketing, translators (all European languages), fundraisers, press/journalists, printers, t-shirt printers, merchandising, graphic designers, people who work in TV, celebrities, caterers, drivers/transport, people in trophies/medals, multimedia, IT.

This is not a complete list so if you can help or have skills you think we might need, please volunteer.

Are you a future Champion?

Close your eyes...imagine you are standing on a podium listening to the National anthem having just won a Gold Medal... Where are you? You're at the National Basketball Arena, at the AETF European Championships in 2005.

After our recent success at the AETF European Championships 2003 and 2004, the RITA is looking to the future. As part of our plans for Euro 2005, we are hoping to develop a squad of future Champions to represent Ireland on home ground. We are looking for enthusiastic, promising blue, red and Black Belts, willing to train hard over the next 20 months.

As we are hosting both Junior and Senior Championships, we are looking for both Junior and Senior, male and female competitors (Juniors must be at least 14 years by 8th of April 2005). Initially we hope to meet once a month at venues around the country to concentrate on tournament sparring, patterns, breaking and special technique. The Squad sessions will be taken by Mr Robert Howard 6th Degree, Mr Mark O'Donnell 5th Degree and Mr Floyd Keane 5th Degree.
